Our motto "Advice is free" means we can give clients answers to simple questions at no charge. Confining our operations to the local area minimises costs and enables us to provide a timely response to clients with IT problems. Our highly qualified and experienced staff can help with most areas of IT support. Clients frequently need help urgently with issues such as virus or spyware infections, (malware) networking problems, or data loss.

We aim to provide the needed support rapidly and efficiently to minimise disruption to your business. Your hardware can also need maintenance - from a simple clean-up to replacing parts. Some clients find it an advantage to have planned maintenance, and we can arrange regular visits to test and clean your system hardware and software, and ensure your computers are virus free and backups working effectively.

In addition to our maintenance and repair service we can also provide further IT support, such as training in the use of Operating Systems such as Windows, and the standard applications they provide; and also resolving issues with peripheral devices (printers, scanners etc) or networks and internet access issues.

Malware (malicious software) is a collective name for a wide variety of programs that can cause serious problems for you and your computer.
Perhaps the worst thing about malware is that there may often be no sign that your computer is affected.
A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your email program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk.
Often when browsing you may see a warning like this.
Its a rogue telling you you have a virus.
Rogue anti-virus programs can disable your real anti-virus and open the door to all sorts of nasties - while making you believe you have effective protection.
Its a common complaint, and likely a sign of a problem.
Possibly your heard drive is failing, in which case you could lose all your files and data.
However it may just be that the software needs maintenance.
You can do this yourself, but it will take time, and to be effective should be done correctly.
The WORST thing to do is search for and install a utility to "speed up" your PC.
Mostly they are junk, often they will introduce viruses into your PC or even destroy your files.
As you use your computer - getting and reading emails, preparing documents, surfing the web, etc - large amounts of data are stored on your hard drive.
Modern computers have few moving parts and are usually very reliable.
However this can lull you into a false sense of security - tower & desktop systems still do need regular maintenance.
Here are just a few of the many things that can break your computer:.
From bitter experience we recommend all connections to mains and telephone lines be surge protected.
What does a hardware service on a conventional PC (not an all-in one, laptop, tablet etc) include?.
Strip down as necessary and clean excess* dirt from inside computer, heat sinks and fans: check and replace fans where necessary.
As an individual or small business it can be difficult to get the help you need when something goes wrong.
With 30 years of experience in IT I can usually help you overcome your problem.
Your operating system and installed software are replaceable.
The computer can be restored with all its operating ability intact.
Your accounts, your contacts, all your personal files, they can not.
Even a home computer has irreplaceable photos, letters, maybe schoolwork or assignments etc. that represent hundreds of hours of work.
You may be aware that there have been many cases recently of websites being hacked and user account details being compromised.
Some allow spaces, many dont, some force the use of digits and upper case, or will not allow more than 8 characters.
So a common strategy which would help you remember them is not feasible.
Its the only one you will need to remember.
Save as a WORD document.
Keep a copy on your google drive and you can access it anywhere - and Open Office runs on Android as well as PC.
A simple way to do this is to follow a pattern on the QWERTY keyboard - such as Xde4%tgh.
